This role will support the Controller in directing and maintaining an accounting system that accurately reflects the financial position of our publicly traded subcontractor operations across Virginia and beyond.About Us: With a legacy dating back to 1970, Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic, LLC has been a leader in creating safe, comfortable, and efficient facilities throughout South Central VA and North Central NC. Our state-of-the-art facilities in South Boston, VA, span over 62,600 square feet, housing offices, sheet metal fabrication, plumbing and piping fabrication, and warehousing.Why Join Us?Contribute to a legacy of excellence in building systemsWork in a collaborative and innovative environmentOpportunities for professional growth and developmentWhat You'll Do:Financial Support: Assist in managing daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial reports, including job cost and percentage of completion reports.Compliance & Controls: Support adherence to GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.Account Reconciliation: Assist in maintaining general ledger accuracy and performing account reconciliations.Cash Flow Oversight: Work closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing to ensure smooth financial operations.Audit Preparation: Support external audits and assist in implementing process improvements.Collaboration: Coordinate with the corporate accounting team and other departments to align financial strategies.Process Enhancement: Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and reporting.Who You Are:Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).Professional Experience: 3+ years in accounting, preferably in the construction or subcontracting industry.Technical Skills: Knowledge of General Ledger, Job Cost, and Percentage of Completion Accounting (preferred).Industry Experience: Experience with publicly traded companies is a plus.Financial Expertise: Strong understanding of GAAP, budgeting, and cost control principles.Software Proficiency: Familiarity with automated financial reporting systems, COINS experience preferred.Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of federal and state financial regulations.Detail-Oriented & Analytical: Ability to analyze financial data and prepare accurate reports and projections.Strong Communicator: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.Organized & Proactive: Effective time management and problem-solving skills to meet deadlines.Key Attributes:Integrity & Trust: Highly trustworthy with strong ethical values.Team Player: Works well within a team-oriented environment.Adaptability: Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities.Growth-Oriented: Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibilities.Relationships: This position reports directly to the Controller and works closely with other accounting and finance team members.Join Us in Embracing Our Core Values: Be Safe.
